Career Description

The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, consolidating and interpreting financial data. This role also conducts special studies related to the business and financial statements, uses independence and sound judgment and works within set policies and procedures to solve problems. The Sr. Financial Analyst is also accountable for the quality; timeliness and accuracy of his/her own work.

Critical and Essential Tasks

  • Provide support in the areas of financial planning, analysis, budgeting and forecasting as well as providing expense control analysis across the entire corporation
  • Develop strong working relationships with the principal business stakeholders and acquire an intimate knowledge of products and financial processes
  • Prepare and maintain periodic (e. g. weekly, monthly, etc.) G&A, as well as total Corporation, financial reports with detailed explanations for variances with regards to both P&L and Balance Sheet performance
  • Support IT team directly with strong understanding of their operational spend, contracts, capitalization, and headcount structure plans in order to support their forecasting/budgeting processes
  • Compile full corporation financial statement views along with variance explanations by coordinating and collecting from various department Finance leads and Business leaders for Executive reviews
  • Responsible for driving financial planning/forecasting/modeling with various business departments building long-range operating plans and rolling forecast processes to support business initiatives
  • Improve upon monthly and quarterly reporting processes with automated solutions
  • Provide monthly actual results to department leads, including researching account transactions, accruals, etc. as needed to enhance transparency and understanding in spending
  • Review organization/departmental structure on a regular basis ensuring alignment of budgets and actuals by department and make adjustments/corrections where needed
  • Work closely with Accounting during monthly close to get a better understanding of booked accruals, invoice details, booked re-classes/adjustments, etc. in order to explain to department leaders any adjustments made

Career Requirements

Experience

3-5 years of relevant financial analysis experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent from a four-year college or university.  MBA or professional certification preferred.

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organization, and negotiation skills
  • Accuracy and efficiency in a changing environment with the ability to prioritize without being told to do so
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment under tight deadlines
  • High degree of professionalism and must have impeccable people skills with the ability to communicate easily with executives, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in Microsoft suite products (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
  • Hyperion Essbase experience preferred, but not required
  • Self-motivated and require minimal supervision
  • Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support where needed, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members and business partners
  • Business acumen with regards to IT, Finance, HR, Operations, and in-depth knowledge of corporate finance budgeting and forecasting processes
  • General understanding of accounting principles and laws with regards to financial reporting
  • Spanish speaking preferred

Technical Skills

  • Highly proficient with Excel, Access and other database or modeling tools
  • Proficiency in Excel - (vlookups/hlookup, pivot tables, sumifs, countifs, macros/vba), SQL queries, PowerPoint, Word. Knowledge in Oracle, Hyperion, Peoplesoft, Peoplesoft and Access are a plus.
  • Drive continuous process improvements in reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities through automation, system enhancements, data quality, consolidation, and quality improvement.

The successful incumbent will set goals, timetables and meet deadlines as a normal part of their everyday business.
