The Enterprise Monitoring Systems Analyst is responsible for the developing and maintenance of an enterprise monitoring environment. This role uses independence and prior experience in evaluating current use of monitoring tools and processes and proposes improvements to both. The Analyst works in coordination with Infrastructure and Application teams to enhance the monitoring of enterprise production systems used in hundreds of stores in a variety of geographic locations. As part of the Production Support Team, the Enterprise Monitoring Systems Analyst will develop and maintain alerts to improve responsiveness to production issues and identify trends in performance that can lead to system improvements. This role is accountable for the quality, timeliness and accuracy of its own work. The Enterprise Monitoring Systems Analyst must be able to perform job responsibilities with direction from Production Support Manager and other IT leaders.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Creates monitoring dashboards and alerts
  • Recommends improvements to monitoring tools and processes
  • Ensures that all production systems are properly being monitored
  • Develops alert thresholds and validating them with IT and Business owners
  • Integrates critical alerts with notification platform (PagerDuty)
  • Works with Production Support to ensure escalation of critical alerts are addressed in an efficient timely manner

Critical and Essential Tasks

  • Validates Solarwinds modules to ensure they are running correctly and are fully functional
  • Ensures all CIs (servers, switches, routers and appliances) and applications are being monitored
  • Establishes and /or validates all thresholds for each CI type and application to ensure proper monitoring and alerting
  • Validates network monitoring is configured to alert effectively and efficiently

Career Requirements

Experience

4+ years of hands on experience supporting complex environments as well as multiple infrastructure systems or operating systems by creating and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerts 4 years of hands on experience with SolarWinds, Log Analytics, Azure RealTime monitoring, APM (Oracle) perferred

Education

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or 5+ years hands on experience SolarWinds (SCP) certification a plus

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of help desk support and help desk software
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in supervising and training development staff
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or on a team and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy and time management and organizational skills
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, GPOs, Server Services, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange, Virtualization, Communications (Routers, Firewalls), Printing (Queues, Drivers)
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
