Career Description

The Director of Accounting provides leadership, support and consultation in the all areas of accounting. This role maintains a system of internal controls that ensures the company maintains and adheres to financial reporting policies, SEC and US GAAP requirements and other compliance related activities.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversees the month, quarter and year end close processes
  • Oversees over pawn operational accounting, corporate accounting and cash accounting teams

Critical and Essential Tasks

  • Responsible for the overall management of leases in our Tririga System and implementation of ASC 842
  • Coordinates with external auditors to support the year-end audit and quarterly reviews
  • Responsible for developing procedures and controls to ensure SOX compliance for the organization
  • Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures
  • Prepares and leads accounting review meetings on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Prepares internal use financial statements and associated variance analysis
  • Manages our Blackline reconciliation system for US and LATAM entities
  • Manages the cash team and liaises with Treasurer with regards to proper cash controls at the field and corporate levels
  • Hires, trains and retains competent accounting staff
  • Builds a team-oriented approach
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the VP Corporate Controller

Career Requirements


10+ years of experience, including 5 years of previous management responsibility


Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or certification such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) preferred

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Experience in public accounting /large corporations
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy; and time management and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
