Career Description

The Network Engineer will build and support secure data systems from concept to production. This role will drive continuous improvement and growth of the company through strong skills and experience in data network technologies.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Software Application Development
  • Software Systems Maintenance

Critical and Essential Tasks

  • Analyzes, tests, installs, documents, implements and supports converged network technologies
  • Subject matter expert on IP routing (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, STP, IP Multicast, MPLS, IPsec VPN, SD Wan and QoS
  • Network capacity planning and performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Tests, implements and supports enterprise data centers and WLAN solutions
  • Demonstrates good judgment identifying problems in advance and proposing solutions
  • Prepares and maintains up to date documentation detailing configuration of deployed solutions
  • Resolves operational issues involving routers, switches in a multi-routing infrastructure (OSPF, BGP)
  • Provides 3rd tier support for the corporate network
  • Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation and off hour’s maintenance windows

Career Requirements

Experience

3+ years of extensive networking and troubleshooting in a distributed environment

Previous network design experience a plus

Education

Bachelor’s degree Information Technology related field or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred, not required

CCNA certification required; CCNP certification preferred

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Significant Cisco experience along with related experience in infrastructure/networked environments with hardware (routers, switches, firewall, etc.), software (IOS and NXOS), network security practices, designing, planning and implementing LAN-MAN-WANs using the industry standard technologies
  • Broad working knowledge of tools, practices and procedures pertaining to networking and security operations and compliancy (SOX)
  • Experience in global office build-out which include structure cabling, circuit provisioning, planning and coordination in all different levels
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and security theory beyond the scope of normal configuration/troubleshooting
  • Broad knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANS, Routing, NAT/PAT, QoS, BGP, OSPF, IPSec and DMVPNs
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructure running VoIP, QoS, SIP
  • Knowledge and experience with Wireless LAN protocols including 802.11X
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies and software tools for performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco Switches (IOS and NX-OS)
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls is a plus
  • Experience with Fortinet Firewalls
  • Experience with BlueCoat Internet Proxies
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills to work effectively with others inside and outside departmental boundaries, at remote locations and/or outside the company
  • Requires proficiency with PC software applications (MS Office, Visio), E-Mail and job associated applications/systems to expediently process work
  • Requires good organization skills to produce quality work, within required specifications, to meet tight schedules
